Things I did:
1. Went out to brunch with aniki to discuss his urgent engagement plans! He bought me a new vase and kenzan because he knows how I prefer to pick my own flowers. I swear, no one could ever spoil me as much as my brother.
2. Bought myself an amazing new shoe rack to prepare for this week’s shipment of my clothes from Otaru. Did you know that women have separate hammers from men? My future wrestling name will be Lady Hammer.
3. Made chocolates with Sassmaster Mom. We ate them all ourselves while watching a Hana Yori Dango marathon by candlelight.
Things I did not do:
1.Pick up the phone for Manboy. Sorry babe, one of us has to be an adult and we both know that it’s not you.
2.Think about how absolutely gorgeous the snow festival must be right now. Okay, lies, maybe I did a little. But it was my favorite time in Otaru :’( I miss all the little snowmen and the lights in the river.
And now I’m at the end of my first volunteer shift at the Tokyo Center. Of course my first day would be Valentine’s Day – all hands on deck! Because nothing would be worse than someone calling for help and being put on hold over volunteer staff shortage. The people are fabulous as expected. I was worried about my social group coming only from from work, since I don’t have many friends in Tokyo anymore, but I’ve already been invited to join a drag band. Sigh, the torture of waiting for Susie the Bass to be shipped.
